The IGES Institut provides comprehensive research and consulting services relating to the design of healthcare provision. Our expertise ranges from analysing existing care structures and identifying gaps in provision to developing innovative models of care.
We have specific expertise in health services research. IGES is believed to have first used the German term for health services research (HSR), Versorgungsforschung, around 1990, thereby making an important contribution to establishing this field of research.
Health services research focuses on the scientific analysis and optimisation of healthcare under real-world conditions. An empirically oriented discipline, HSR systematically examines how healthcare services are organised, financed, delivered and used, and what outcomes they achieve.
Health services research at the IGES Institut takes into account the complex interactions between different sectors and stakeholders within the healthcare system. The findings of our health services research provide a robust scientific basis for further developing the healthcare system and facilitate evidence-based decisions by policymakers, healthcare providers and payers.
