New website launched for Drug Atlas 2017
05.12.17 – The current issue of Drug Atlas has been published in a new web design. The aim of the relaunch is to present important ambulatory data with regard to the German pharmaceutical market even more clearly and user-friendly by means of advanced search functions and lexical presentations. For over ten years, the Drug Atlas has been delivering structured information on drug use and corresponding expenditures of the statutory health insurance (GKV). » Details

People in need of care with special support needs could benefit more from the advice of the long-term care insurance funds
05.10.22 – For families with children and adolescents in need of care and for people with disabilities in need of care, the care counselling service of the long-term care insurance funds could become a helpful contact point much more often. Currently, only a few of them make use of this counselling service, although it is geared towards case management, i.e. customised individual help. » Details
Programme for more psychosocial health of nursing home residents: test run starts
29.09.22 – More and more care facilities are building on health promotion and prevention to promote the well-being and quality of life of their residents. This is provided for by the german Prevention Act of 2015. Another programme developed by care experts is now about to be tested. For this, nursing homes are being sought that will implement the programme "Nursing Homes - Mentally Encouraging Organisations" (PfleMeO for short in german) from 2023. » Details
Pharmaceuticals: average increase in expenditure from 2009 to 2021 below the mean value of all SHI benefit expenditure
26.09.22 – Current analyses by the IGES Institute provide in-depth insights into the developments of pharmaceutical expenditure in the past years. They show that pharmaceuticals were not an above-average expenditure driver compared to other service areas of the SHI. Increases in expenditure due to innovative new drugs were offset by savings in existing drugs. The most important driver of expenditure increases was the rising consumption of medicines. » Details
